Supporting working parents and carers through another successful School Holiday Care Program
Service Stream has continued its commitment to supporting working parents and carers, with another free School Holiday Program delivered during the recent winter school holidays.
Held across Service Stream's Collins Street office and new Oakleigh site, the program gave our people the opportunity to stay connected to work while their children enjoyed a safe, engaging and professionally supervised school holiday experience through our ongoing partnership with KidsCo Australia.
During the three-day program, children enjoyed a range of hands-on activities, including an exciting Happy Birthday celebration, a Toy Story-inspired adventure and the MAKEDO Davy Jones' Locker challenge, where they put their creativity to the test by building pirate ships and treasure chests.
James Smith, Senior Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion said the program reflects Service Stream's broader commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels supported both professionally and personally.
"By helping ease the challenges associated with school holidays, this initiative enables parents and carers to remain engaged at work while balancing family responsibilities,” said James.
“This is especially important for supporting the women in our workforce, with women representing 88% of primary carers in Australia.”
What began as a pilot back in 2024, the program has continued to grow in response to employee demand, with the program now delivered across multiple Service Stream locations and supporting hundreds of families.
Feedback from participating parents and carers continues to highlight the positive difference the initiative makes, including feeling more supported by Service Stream, less stressed about school holidays, and a greater overall feeling of connection and sense of belonging.
Supporting our people through every stage of life remains a key focus for Service Stream, with initiatives like the School Holiday Care Program helping to create a more inclusive workplace where our people can thrive both at work and at home.
