Real life flexibility and support for parents and carers: The Webber family story
27 February 2026
At Service Stream, flexibility and support for carers aren’t buzzwords. They show up in real moments when our people need us most.
Luke Webber, is one of our team members, and like many working parents, he balances professional responsibilities with caring for his young family. His son Mason (11) lives with cerebral palsy, which means there are times when medical needs arise unexpectedly, and Luke needs to step away to focus on what matters most.
Through flexible work arrangements and carer’s leave, we’re proud to support Luke in taking the time he needs, whether that is to attend Mason’s medical appointments or simply be there for his family during more challenging days.
Equally as important is being able to share in the good moments.
Recently, the Webber family had one of those special days, as Mason, a die-hard Collingwood fan, attended an exclusive AFL Main Training Visit Experience hosted by the Collingwood AFL Club in Melbourne. For a young Pies supporter, it doesn’t get much better than that.
For Luke, being able to be there to share this day with Mason, and his younger brother Oliver (7) was priceless.
“It meant everything to be there with Mason for something he loves so much. There are a lot of appointments and serious conversations when you’re navigating care for a child with cerebral palsy. Days like this are about joy, making lifelong memories and enjoying and celebrating the small wins. Knowing I have the flexibility and support at work makes a real difference to our family,” said Luke.
Mason, Oliver, Luke and his father were treated to an unforgettable day touring the club’s facilities, witnessing a team training session and meeting all their favourite team members including Scott Pendlebury and Coach Craig McRae. Mason was even gifted his very own pair of signed football boots from Scott to round out the experience.
Stories like Luke’s are a powerful reminder that when organisations create environments where carers feel understood and supported, everyone benefits. Our people can show up fully at work because they know they are backed by a team that recognises that life doesn’t always fit neatly into a nine-to-five schedule.
