A legacy of connection

Since its opening on 18 January 2013, Peninsula Link has provided a vital, toll-free connection between Melbourne’s east and the Mornington Peninsula.

The 27-kilometre freeway links EastLink at Carrum Downs with the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Mount Martha, allowing motorists to travel from Melbourne’s CBD to Rosebud without a single traffic light, saving up to 40 minutes during peak times.

Managing Peninsula Link

Peninsula Link is operated and maintained by Service Stream on behalf of Southern Way under a 25-year agreement. At the end of this term, the freeway and its assets will be handed back to the State for ongoing management. Service Stream is committed to keeping Peninsula Link safe, reliable and efficient for everyone who uses it.

Keeping you safe 24/7

Our control room operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, using a combination of CCTV, speed and traffic flow detection systems, roadside help phones, regular patrols and surveillance. We also ensure the road remains clear of hazards, including removing debris and wildlife when needed.

If you are involved in an incident on Peninsula Link, please try and move your vehicle into an emergency stopping lane if it is safe to do so. There are 34 roadside assistance help phones located along both carriageways — use them only when safe.

For your safety, always remain in your vehicle and wait for our traffic management team to arrive.
