Milson Park Project finalist at Heads of Water Awards

The Milson Park Project was a finalist in the Infrastructure Project Innovation (Metro) category at the Australian Water Association NSW Heads of Water Awards held on Friday night in Sydney.
Service Stream was engaged to undertake the works at Milson Park on behalf of Sydney Water and the City of Parramatta. The project brought together local and state agencies, and catchment groups, in an innovative collaborative approach, to design, construct and maintain a vegetated stormwater system in a concerted effort to better manage water quality across Sydney.
This award recognises excellence in significant and innovative infrastructure projects within the water industry that drive prosperity and sustainability.
At its core, the completed Milson Park project is a best practice example of collaborative investment driving ecological, environmental and social value.
“We are proud of being able to bring the overall vision of the project and program to fruition, and to create and manage healthy and valued waterways that enhance the liveability and sustainability of Sydney,” says Zakaria Bernard, Senior Project Manager Service Stream.
The Milson Park Project was also recognised at the Local Government NSW – Excellence in Environment Awards in December last year.
Key project outcomes include:
- Reduction in volume of litter in the waterway by 13,400 kilograms a year,
- Reduction in Total Suspended Solids entering the waterway by 60,000 kilograms a year, and
- Reduction in Total Nitrogen and Total Phosphorous by 400 kilograms a year.
