Electric excavator joins our fleet
Sustainability

Our South East Water team recently welcomed a fancy new electric excavator to their operations that reduces both emissions and noise, making it ideal for night works around residential areas.
The 1.9 tonne electric excavator, capable of digging to 2.6m, is battery powered for five hours and easily recharged from the new charging station at the depot in Dandenong South, Victoria.
“The team are enjoying testing out the new electric excavator and we are sharing our findings with other Service Stream contracts and projects who are also looking for ways to reduce emissions and benefit from the low noise outcomes that come from transitioning to electric fleet and machinery,” says Peter Hogan, Contract Manager.
Key benefits include:
- Reduced emissions
- Reduced noise and customer disturbance (particularly beneficial during night works)
- A safer working environment by making it easier to communicate with less machinery noise
