Cultural immersion for our Reconciliation Working Group
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group and other members of Service Stream were treated to a special cultural awareness workshop at the renowned Koorie Heritage Trust in Melbourne.
The session facilitated by Rob Hyatt of Koorie Heritage Trust was attended by 20 Service Stream team members including our RAP Working Group and members of our Telecommunications team. Participants took part in a 4-hour cultural awareness session in the morning, followed by a cultural walk along the Yarra River learning the history of the Birrarung and the Aboriginal People of the Kulin Nation.
"Attending the cultural awareness training at the Koorie Heritage Trust with Rob was an eye-opening experience. It provided a genuine glimpse into our nation’s First Peoples' culture and history, and guided us on how to create respectful and safe spaces,” says Rev Altman, Manager of Community Engagement, Land Access, Complaints, and Compliments - Telecommunications.
“It served as a powerful reminder of why we are committed to respecting and preserving Aboriginal History, especially as we continue to build and enhance the nation's telecommunications infrastructure."
This training forms part of our Innovate RAP commitments to ensure all Service Stream team members undertake cultural awareness training in their local areas.
