Job Description Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Accountant - Fixed Assets to join our Group Finance team. This role plays a key part in the management and accounting of the Group’s Fixed Assets and Right-of-Use Assets, including maintaining accurate asset records, depreciation and lease accounting, asset additions and disposals, and Capital Expenditure. The role will also support broader financial accounting activities, including maintaining a healthy balance sheet, financial reporting, Balance Sheet reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards, company policies and audit requirements. The successful candidate will help ensure financial information is accurate, supportable and delivered in line with internal and external compliance obligations.

Fixed Assets

  • Prepare monthly depreciation and lease accounting journals.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, including asset additions, disposals, and capitalisation of projects.
  • Complete fixed asset balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review capital expenditure postings and ensure costs are recorded correctly.
  • Assist with lease accounting requirements and related reporting.

Financial Accounting

  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Review month-end results, identifying and correcting posting errors and investigating variances.
  • Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations with clear supporting documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve unexplained balance sheet items.
  • Monitor and identify financial risks and issues arising within balance sheet accounts.
  • Follow up and clear aged transactions and incorrect postings.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Take ownership of centralised finance processes that impact broader business functions.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation and work instructions.
  • Undertake ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.
  • Assist the wider finance team with additional tasks as required.

About you

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Financial Accountant, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role.
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and month-end processes.
  • Experience with fixed assets and depreciation accounting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise competing deadlines and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across the business.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using ERP/accounting systems is desirable.

Qualifications

  • CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) is highly regarded.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
