We have a role available for a Project Support Services (PSS) Traineeship in our Defence division. This is a permanent full-time position based in Darwin, Northern Territory.

About the role
The trainee will work alongside experienced professionals to support Project Data Services activities across local defence bases, contributing to real projects while building core project management skills. The role centres on developing strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring project activities are delivered collaboratively, accurately, and in line with Defence Standards. It also involves learning to identify potential risks or issues and helping to develop practical solutions for all stakeholders.
Throughout the program, the Trainee PSS Coordinator will gain hands‑on experience while completing the nationally recognised BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Support planning, scheduling, and delivery of Project Data Services work to meet time and budget targets.
Perform physical data checks to ensure accuracy and integrity.
Oversee hand‑over and take‑over activities, ensuring smooth transitions and contractual compliance.
Maintain clear communication with project teams, defence personnel, and contractors.
Produce and maintain project records, including progress reports, validation outputs, and HOTO logs.
Ensure all work aligns with defence regulations and standards.
Identify and address risks or issues during execution, validation, or transitions.
Contribute to process improvements to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
Experience in project coordination or project support.
Experience meeting with project teams on construction sites.
Experience with data validation and data management processes.
Strong understanding of Defence regulations and standards.
Experience working with a Defence or Social Infrastructure contractor or service provider.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail in data validation and documentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address issues and mitigate risks.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Adaptability to changing project requirements, environments, and systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
