Field Technician – Telecommunications (Operations & Maintenance)
About the Role
As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, repair, and maintenance of telecommunications systems and fibre networks. You’ll diagnose faults, restore services, and ensure that all works meet compliance, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission telecommunications equipment, fibre services, and cabling.
- Perform fault diagnostics, on‑site service restoration, and escalate complex issues where required.
- Conduct testing and troubleshooting to verify network functionality and ensure compliance with standards.
- Complete post‑fault analysis and contribute to continuous improvement of network performance.
- Prepare accurate service documentation for all completed tasks.
- Participate in safety toolbox meetings and adhere to ServiceStream’s HSE protocols.
Skills & Experience
- Field experience in telecommunications or IT, including telephony, network operations, and fibre systems.
- Strong understanding of FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) technology.
- Proficient in cabling installation, termination, and testing.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and compliance.
- Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively and deliver a customer‑centric experience.
