About the Role

Our Utilities division has an exciting opportunity for a Crew Leader to join the Gas operations team based at Epping The primary purpose of the position is to manage day-to-day operations of a field crew with a major focus on safety, quality, standards and customer satisfaction. 

 

Nature of position:       Permanent, Full-Time 

Location:                           Epping, VIC 

Reporting Line:               O&M Manager 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supervising various sized teams and mechanical equipment and maintaining team discipline 

  • Induction training and development of personnel including appraisals of Team Members 

  • Training Team Members in safety, work practices and job procedures in order to set up and maintain a safe working environment 

  • Maintaining records as required 

  • Dealing with field and administrative problems and negotiating solutions for them including both written and verbal reporting thereof 

  • Planning and organising the work of teams under their control including the scheduling of all relevant items for effective undertaking of the task 

  • Quality of work carried out by the teams under their control 

  • Utilising various mains and services work requirements 

  • Ensuring that the Service Stream administrative and policy requirement goals and objectives are carried out in accordance with the legislative requirements including equal opportunity, Manual Handling, OH&S etc. 

  • Assisting in the development and training of all relevant work improvements to enhance the work environment, productivity and customer relations 

  • Close liaison with the Area Supervisor 

  • Refix meters and relight appliances 

  • Inspection of main laying and service laying work carried out by Service Stream and contract personnel to ensure that work is performed to specified quality standards Inspection of main laying and Service laying work includes the following aspects 

 

About You 

  • Preferably have at least five (5) years’ experience in duties associated with Team Members 

  • Experience in controlling Team Members and mechanical equipment  

  • Completed a Mains and Services Certificate 3 or equivalent 

  • Certificate IV Frontline management (preferred) 

  • HR or MR Truck license 

  • Ability to motivate workers and maintain a high standard of discipline 

  • Ability to plan and organise work to ensure quality and out-put of work is achieved in accordance with standards set 

  • Ability to liaise and communicate with people 

  • Ability to promote good public relations
