About the Role

We are looking for a HESQ Business Partner to join our Utilities division where you will partner with operational teams to meet HSE expectations, manage risk and deliver safe outcomes on all projects/contracts. This role will be based out of Mount Piper, and you will be provided with a vehicle.

About The Role
In this role you will be a role model for, and work to embed the Service Stream Safety Value, Safety Brand – ‘Walk, Talk, Lead, Care, SAFETY’ messaging, and the key leadership principles from the Safety Leadership Program.


Your key responsibilities will include:

Leadership

  • Provide HSEQ coaching and mentoring of project personnel at all levels but specifically for those that hold front line leader responsibilities. 

  • Maintain regular visibility across the workplace, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support the project team to consider HSEQ requirements throughout project planning and delivery.

  • Assist in the development of a culture so that safety is a primary driver.

Team Performance

  • Participate in performance reviews in accordance with required timeframes.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to workplace personnel and project HSEQ support staff for the effective implementation of HSEQ within the workplace.

  • Assist in the close out of actions and identified improvement opportunities.

Planning

  • Review specific planned works (high risk) to be undertaken to ensure compliance with the method of work.

  • Be accountable for the management, roll out and verification of initiatives.

  • Support Projects to ensure the Workplace HSEQ Management Plan/s and strategies are implemented, monitored and reviewed and any deficiencies and corrective actions are implemented.

Risk Management

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the Service Stream’s HSEQ Management System and procedures within the workplace. Inform your National HSEQ Manager of any gaps.

  • Ensure the businesses Critical Safety Controls (CSC’s) approach to safety is followed for all work activities.

  • Assist in the monitoring and reviewing of all high-risk work activities i.e. review of project risk registers.

  • Ensure HSEQ requirements are communicated to the project.

Subcontractor and Supplier Management

  • Ensure subcontractors have carried out and comply with all Service Stream onboarding procedures.

  • Assist with the review of subcontractor work activity documentation i.e. SWMS, ITP’s and training compliance (HRWL, VOC’s) are being adhered to.

  • Conduct reviews and inspections of subcontractor performance and work activities.

  • Ensure all subcontractor hired-in plant and equipment (including vehicles) are onboarded prior to use on site. 

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in Health, Safety and Environment (2+ years), preferably within the infrastructure, construction or mining industries. 

  • Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent

  • Incident Investigation Qualified - preferably ICAM Lead Investigator

  • Current Australian Full Drivers Licence

  • Knowledge and understanding of current WHS legislation.

  • Demonstrated experience in subcontractor management

  • Experience in producing incident investigation reports.
